Mike Jones, chief executive of MySpace confessed to the Telegraph at the end of last year that MySpace has completed a social network and a direct competitor FB. 'MySpace is not a social networking anymore. Now it is a social entertainment destination,' said Jones.
The number of active users may be down, and the News Corporation might be preparing the site for sale. However, Jones revealed that since the launch of a new MySpace worldwide, there are more than 3.3 million new profile is created, with special interest on the new page themed entertainment.
Social network Bebo is also doing the same thing. British site since it was purchased from AOL by Criterion Capital Partners, now focus on becoming a more enjoyable place. They let users control their profiles and express themselves.
'I think we can coexist with FB because Bebo is a container that is now focused on self-expression. Not everyone wants to become a place where Mom and Dad they become members,' said Adam Levin, the new chief executive of Bebo, told the Telegraph last month. 'It's about re-enable registered users, who then will tell new users to come and check out new devices and content that we put on the site.'
Bebo currently has 117 million registered users globally. However, less than 12 million are active users, with 30-40 percent of registered users is based in the UK. In contrast to the FB which has more than 500 million registered members.
